2.4.5 update | The Forest Hills Rework Update

Update 2.4.5

//Map Rework//

Reworked the Forest Hills map.

-Optimized the environments

-Added new safe house "The Firewatch Looka-Out Tower" with a secret weapon stash

-Made significant changes to Forest Hills, improving performance and captures a better appeal as a map.

-Added fog.

--DROP IN AND EXPLORE THE NEW FOREST HILLS--

Since the release of Next-Gen we wanted to rework on this map for many reasons, two of them being due to the satire performance and FPS Drops the trees caused. Yes, there were a lot of trees (thousands and counting) resulting to this ugly performance. The second reason we wanted to rework on Forest Hills was due to the bad appeal as a map it was. There were hidden stuff to explore but with those trees in front on player's face was annoying. Say no more to that because we came to deliver!

-- COMPARISSON --

BEFORE

(10 FPS on EXTREME)

AFTER

(36+ FPS on EXTREME)

notice: the fps might increase as you eliminate Drones.

As mentioned before, we've added a new spot "The Firewatch Looka-Out Tower". Those guys were hiring until the Johnathan and Drones conquered...

//New UI Features & UI Improvements//

- Added a Mail Box in the Main Menu that includes a Warning for the game's current state as well as Player's game license.

- Increased the Bloom effect in MainMenu | This is for nostalgia purposes. When Next-Gen was released for the first time, the bloom effect was mistakenly increased until we've decreased it again.

//HORDE MODE & HORDE MODE++ BALANCES//

-Horde Mode and Horde Mode++ difficulties are now completely balanced, reducing and nerfing a huge amount of enemy's HP.

//Small Optimizations//

- Removed needles trees in Chapter 4 to improve performance & fully reworked to appeal.

- Changed the specs in order to play on High settings from the System Requirements section.

//Bug Fixes//

- Fixed the floating blood in The Mile | Greyfield County Level.

- Fixed the black screen issue after you die in The Mile | Greyfield County Level.

- Fixed the visual bug where the text "EX-EDITION" would appear at in random menus.

Developer note: EX-DRONES now runs in DX12 by default. To change it to DX11, here are the instructions:

Step 1: Create a Shortcut of the .exe file.

Step 2: Right click and head to "Properties".

Step 3: On the file name add this line " -dx11". Don't forget to leave a blank (space).

Step 4: Now once you run EX-DRONES again, rest assure you're playing with dx11!

Important note: This update is applied ONLY for the EX-EDITION version of the game as well as with the following updates coming in the future. This decision wasn't easy to take as we would love for every type of Exter to drop into the present action with no limitations. We've taken that path due to the long developing and exporting time we spent for both Editions. Other reason for these heartbreaking news is the storage limitation Itch has (4GB) and with further progress the game (EX-DRONES) is expanding and that means that it will require more and more space throughout every update. Still, to make up for it, we will be running every now and then constant sales for Standard and EX Editions both combined. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Stay tuned for further updates and....new campaign.

The Drones will return as well as...a familiar face.
